Pack Moving Boxes Smartly For NYC Move

I’ve often wondered how people who move to great cities manage to get anything done upon their arrival. With so much to see and so much to do, it’s easy for me to imagine boxes remaining unpacked for weeks on end.

For those planning to make New York City their new home, the chore of unpacking moving boxes has to be at the bottom of the list compared to getting out and seeing the sights and taking it all in. With so much hustle and bustle going on outside, staying in and getting settled has to be nearly impossible!

I found a great article on NYC-Movers.Net that offers advice on how to make sure the household gets settled and not a single moment is wasted during the unpacking process. The article on packing moving boxes for a move to New York City clearly spells out how to organize, how to pack and what to do to ensure getting settled goes quickly so there’s more time to explore and get acclimated.

It’s clear to me that moving to a big city can be an adventure, and thanks to advice like that found in the article on New York City, not a single moment needs to be wasted on dealing with moving boxes. New residents will want to hit the streets as soon as their moving companies unload.

Amtrack Needs to Expand Auto Shipping Service

Seems like Amtrak is always crying about losing money and looking for more public support for its train service. It just seems to me that they are missing a huge opportunity.

With all the interest in buying vehicles online nowadays, at sites like eBay, people need auto transport services to get the car, truck, SUV, RV, etc. to its new location. There's a ton of interest from people looking to transport their vehicles on Amtrak, but currently Amtrak only offers one line where you can bring your car with you, and that runs from Virginia (around Washington, DC) to Florida.

Well that's just find and dandy for those needing to ship cars to or from Florida by train and maybe even Florida movers, but it just seems to me that if Amtrak were willing to add more routes where you could bring cars with you it would open up a whole new market for them. Not only people needing to get cars and other vehicles from one point to another, but what about those people who'd really like to tour the country using Amtrak, but have to rent a car or get stuck near the train station once they get to their destination? Wouldn't it make tons of sense to allow Amtrak passengers to bring their cars with them on the trip? What a great way for tourists and seniors to get to see the good ol' USA!

I'm thinking this could be a good revenue generator for Amtrack, while at the same time providing an important vehicle shipping service to train passengers.

Amtrak Auto Transport by Train

Did you know that Amtrak offers auto transport service if you are moving your car, truck, RV or SUV between the DC area of Virginia and Florida?

The Amtrack service allows you to bascially take your vehicle with you on the ride. So, for example, if you purchased a car in Florida or surrounding states on eBay, you could either take the train or fly down, pick up your car or other vehicle and then hop on board the Amtrak train and bring your newly purchased vehicle with you. That way the vehicle stays with you the whole time. You get off the train and then drive your new car to its destination. Works in reverse, too. Pretty cool, huh? Who knew?

At any rate, there's lots more information on shipping your vehicles with Amtrack on this cool auto transport page on GoMovers.com.

Moving with Teens can be Challenging

Ask just about anyone who's had to do it and they'll tell you in no uncertain terms that moving with teens is no picnic.

First, they almost never want to move away from their friends and their world of comfort. They can also have a hard time adjusting to a new location and may even seem depressed at first. Of course, many teens resent discipline and structure so it doesn't make it any easier.

I was thinking about moving to New York state and saw this great article on moving with teens I figured should help anybody who has to go through the process. While I was there I got a bunch of other moving and packing tips, too to help me prepare for the relocation. I also used the links provided to get some free estimates from New York moving companies. The whole Moving New York site (www.moving-newyork.net) is pretty impressive and I'd recommend it to anyone, even if they're not moving to or from New York because the tips apply to just about anywhere and they have a USA Moving Services page that will get you just about anywhere you want to go. Didn't cost me a cent, either.

Moving Tips Are Optional

We all know to tip a waiter who does a good job or a valet, but what about a mover? That’s a question that many find difficult to answer.

I found a great article on moving tips at NYC-Movers.net that helps clear up the confusion. It seems moving tips are a matter of preference, not necessity.

Unlike their hair-cutting or table-waiting service industry counterparts, movers tend to get paid by the job or the hour rather than having to rely on tips for their income. This makes a whole lot of sense due to the extreme labor involved even in a simple move.

The article on moving tips provides some solid insight on when to tip and how much to give, as well. It suggests a few other options beyond cash tips, too.

Moving is hard enough without a bunch of extra considerations. Thanks to great sites like NYC-Movers.net, some of the guesswork goes away, at least when it comes to moving etiquette and moving companies.

THE STRESS OF NYC LONG DISTANCE MOVING

If you are unsure as to which New York City long distance movers to hire for your long distance move, you may become more stressed as the day of your move approaches. You should get free estimates from multiple movers, which will result in the moving companies contacting you so you can compare movers. If you need to move your car as well, you could ask the moving company to ship your vehicle or you could get separate free car shipping estimates. This will make your move a lot easier if you can hire just one company instead of two.

Packing and moving your stuff is the next step after hiring a New York long distance moving company. You should ask your moving company if they have the right boxes for your move. This will prevent damage when moving the items and will also prevent damage during transport. A long distance move may involve moving yourself, your family, or your pets. You should find a moving company that you trust which will allow you to concentrate on other matters.

A ton of free information on moving, packing, storage and auto transport is available for NYC movers at http://www.nyc-movers.net

Moving to a New Florida City

Given the recent cold weather where I live, moving to Florida can’t come too soon. But along with the excitement comes a bit of apprehension – how can I meet people, find out where to shop, locate the best vet for my cat – in short, how does one get settled into a new city beyond unpacking boxes and buying a local newspaper?

Luckily there is a great website called Moving-Florida that talks about moving to a new city that gives loads of tips on getting settled. Unpacking is important to give your new home or apartment a sense of order, but you can also study that newspaper for concerts, interesting bars and restaurants, and other local neighborhood activities that get you comfortable with your new city. You probably had a load of hobbies in your old city, so take it up where you’re at now – join a hiking club if you’re the outdoors type, or local theatre group.

One of the best ways to meet people is to volunteer for a charitable event, be it the humane society, the local symphony orchestra, or Habitat for Humanity. There are loads of opportunities to get you going in your new home.

Moving to a new Florida city can be one of the best moves you can ever make, and with a little determination, becoming a native shouldn’t take long at all.

Tranpsorting Your Auto

Apart from hiring a reputable moving company and getting settled in a new city, the most important item I need at my new home is my car. I’d be lost without it, and especially in a new city. Living in Florida with limited public access and no friends or family to cart me around, I’m very dependent on my own wheels. That’s why I was delighted to find information on transporting your auto at GoAutoTransport.com.

This site takes the mystery and anxiety out of transporting your car long distances. The site delves into the details of how much it costs, why its important to check your insurance coverage to avoid surprises in the rare case of damage in transit, and where to pick up the car once it’s delivered. I was also surprised to learn why you can’t load up the car with big bulky items.

With proper planning, transporting your auto can be the best way to have your car arrive in your new city, and save you’re the fatigue and time of a very long trip.

Moving Your Pet

As anyone who's tried it knows, moving with pets is not easy. The first time I tried it, I did everything wrong and was lucky to get my cat to our new home in one piece. Don't do what I did and put your son and cat in the back of a pickup and expect the trip to go smoothly. Dozens of scratches later, a dehydrated cat and frustrated son finally got out a few hours later.

I found a great article on moving your pets that I wished I had read before ill-planned trip. The most important first step is putting your pet in a sturdy pet carrier. Buy one sized for your pet and put in a favorite blanket or chew toy to make it comfortable. Be sure to update your pet's ID tags. If they escape enroute, you want to make sure you can be contacted as soon as possible.

Meet with your vet to make sure your pet's medication prescriptions are refilled and get a mild tranquilizer, if needed. Let your pet out of the car for exercise. Keep them on a sturdy leash and let them stretch their legs for a few minutes.

Moving your pets does not have to be a traumatic experience for you and by taking a few simple steps, you both can have an enjoyable trip to your new home.

International Moving Means Packing Is Key

I knew packing was vital in just about any move, whether it’s across a city or even a state. What I didn’t know what how vital the process can be in the case of international moving.

I found a great article on Moving-NewYork.net that explains the ins and outs of packing for international moving. The things people have to consider for international moving can be very different than a move within one’s home country.

The article on international moving points out some really interesting things to consider, such as customs regulations, animal restrictions and even the need to weed out more unwanted belongings than a regular move to save time and even freight costs. It even offers some suggestions on what types of things to get rid of or store when an international move is on tap.

International moving companies can be a great help to those moving overseas, too. I knew international moving could be a big deal, I didn’t realize how many considerations need to come into play. I suggest this piece to anyone who is getting ready to call a new country home.
